Supersize Me: Maximizing My Relationship with God

On May 13 the youth of Grace Christian Church boarded on a bus at 6AM and took the long drive to the Graceland Estates and Country Club in Tayabas, Quezon. Over four days the group consisting of high school and college students learned about how to be potent, instead of potentials.

The students learned that the maximized life looks from God's perspective, leads to true success, is when Christ is seen in our lives, comes with great responsibilities, brings blessings to others, and is a life of integrity. And over the course of their stay they learned about how they should search for friends who are wise and not fools, as Proverbs 27:17 states, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

But the summer camp was all about sitting in un-airconditioned halls. The students had the afternoons off to do whatever the estate had to offer, including boating/fishing, swimming, horse back riding, etc. On the second day, the group even overcame the rain and took a boat to cove with clean sands and a small cave to explore. And despite the rains, everyone arrived back at the camp site safely.

Two students accepted Jesus into their lives as their Lord and Savior. Over ninety committed to living a maximized life, and other even committed to serving God full time. At our last meeting, we were told to be flames for God, to have a burning passion for His cause and to be a light unto the world. On May 16, the students were ushered home with "FLAME ON!"

Family Summer Conference 09 - Ilocos Pix

So today, they released the compiled pictures of the Ilocos Summer Conference. It's not perfect, and the test shots were not filtered out. I tried to fix some of them; I hope I didn't turn a good shot into a bad one.heheh.. Also, if you're wondering why some pictures appear all over the place, it just means that multiple photographers took that same picture. You can also wonder why some photographers take multiple pictures of just one person. :D Anyway here are some of the pictures that I've uploaded, enjoy!!!

Summer Con Ilocos - The Return

OK, so we've returned last Saturday. Around 140 of us. We arrived at 5:30AM. It was really earlier. I only had 30 minutes of sleep the whole night. Worst of all, I didn't sleep much the other night as well. BUT, it was still enjoyable,  I was able to catch up with old friends and meet new friends as well. Anyway, I hope I can get the pictures soon, so that I can post them all here. So how was your Holy Week vacation?

Fort Ilocandia Resort Here We Come

So pack your bags, and be ready to meet tomorrow 8:00PM at GCC for our trip to Ilocos. Anyway, don't forget to bring your Bible, personal water for the bus, medication (especially for motion sickness), a little bit of cash, shades, sweater/jacket (it could be cold if you get the chance to ride the hot air balloon),  toiletries (tooth paste and brush, etc.) [The hotel will probably provide most of it, but it wont hurt if your bag has some space], camera if you have one, plastic bags to put your dirty laundry, clothing, socks, undees, slippers, junk food, games to play on the bus... Well, you all know what you need. 

Just be at Grace by 8:00PM tomorrow (April  7). If possible, take a little nap in the afternoon. I know it's hard to sleep on the bus. So it might help to get your sleep in advance. God bless. See you all.

The Summer Con 09' Quest for Funds

So we've already talked about the garage sale for our summer conference. As a continuation for that. Last last Sunday, our church sold shabu-shabu; and today they sold some siomai. It was a fun fund raising event. Even if it's just a little, a few thousand pesos was raised.

And a new development is... if you want to join and don't have enough money, just look for Enoch hia (5'10" with a big smile) and ask for some raffle booklets. A mountain bike, Nautica Cologne for Men, Samsonite Camera Bag, Samsonite Neck Rest, and a Hi-Lock Glassware set will be given away. Draw date will be on March 29 @ 12noon. Each ticket is only P30... and if you sell an amount more than P1500, the amount you sold will be deducted to your summer conference fare. (I'm not so sure about the mechanics though, I'll clarify this in a few days). So start selling now and join our summer conference in Ilocos. God bless you all.

Results: Garage Sale For Summer Con

I'm not too keen on the details regarding the garage sale yesterday, since I wasn't there. But I heard that they were able to make p30,000. That's a pretty good amount, and only happened through God's grace. The money raised will be used to subsidize the summer con amount for those who can't really afford the full p8000. I think priority will be given to students.

Anyway, up next is tomorrow (this Sunday). There will be a food booth that will sell, uhm...Shabu shabu., I think.hehe... Anyway, it's gonna be delicious, so don't forget to bring your wallets. Here's your chance to help out once again. Who said you can't help others by eating? God bless all of you.

Garage Sale For Summer Con

"First of all, sorry folks for not being able to blog this past couple of weeks. I've been having a dry spell lately. Anyway, I'm back, and I'm no longer dry. Thank God."

In the spirit of raising money for our Family Conference in Ilocos, we will be having a Garage Sale this Friday (Feb 27, 2009). It will be a whole day event starting @ 9am in our church (Grace Christian Church). If you have anything worth selling that you probably don't need, here's your chance to get rid of it. You will be helping our church also. It's killing two birds with one stone. Just just pass by the church any reasonable time tomorrow to drop your stuff.

And... if you're wondering whether our church has a garage or not... you are not alone, I'm still wondering about it myself. Anyway, it will probably in the fellowship hall or just the open area where they park all the vans. So drop by this Friday and check out the all the stuff that's for sale.

Supersize Me

Summer is the time to breakaway from school and all the responsibilities that are tangled up with it. It's the one time in the year where you can glaze your eyes on the television set or the computer without being yelled at for ignoring your homework. But we still get badgered about not spending our time as wisely. So this year, Grace Christian Church is sponsoring a Summer Youth Camp charged with activities, messages, and a week with your friends!

Last year, Grace's Summer Camp (Unmasked!) was held at the Asian Theological Seminary in Baguio. The theme revolved around our personal identity under who we are in God. A video message was played zeroing on the spiritual warfare that is continually going on around us. Personally, these messages helped me get a better grasp of who I am and the world that revolves around me. I needn't be ashamed of who I am in Christ, nor should I fear the things of this world. With this in mind, I look forward to the things I'll learn this coming summer at the Youth Camp.

The Grace Summer Youth Camp will be held at the Graceland Estates and Country Club in Tayabas, Quezon, during May 13-16. Early registration is advised, starting at P2,800 till Feb. 28; P3,300 from March 1 to May 3. There are limited slots, so apply now!

Summer Conference 09'

Our church's family summer conference will held during [no surprise] Holy Week. It will be from Tuesday, April 7, to Saturday, April 11 (most probably). It will MOST PROBABLY be held at Ilocos. Estimates mention that it will cost around p8000 per person. So start saving now!!!

As for the theme and whatever we are going to do there.. I'll post them later on after I get the details.
